Twelve buckets for “how did you hear about us?”

The channel list we start every workspace with, why “AI assistant” gets its own row, and why “Other” is a feature.

Every Rumorly workspace starts with the same twelve channels. You can rename, hide or add to them. The list is built around the answers B2B SaaS teams tend to get.

The list

| Channel | What lands there | |---|---| | AI assistant | ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot recommended or mentioned you | | Founder & exec social | Posts by your founders or team on LinkedIn, X, YouTube | | Podcast | An episode or host mentioned you | | Newsletter, blog & media | Someone else's newsletter, article or review | | Community | Slack or Discord groups, Reddit, Hacker News, Indie Hackers | | Word of mouth | A friend, colleague, customer or investor | | Search | Found you on Google or Bing, no ad mentioned | | Review sites | G2, Capterra, Product Hunt, "alternatives to" lists | | Paid ads | Any ad or sponsored placement | | Event & webinar | Conferences, meetups, talks | | Partner & integration | Agencies, marketplaces, integration listings | | Other / unclear | "The internet", "don't remember" |

Why AI assistants get their own row

A year ago this would have been a footnote inside Search. Now it can be a big one: Otterly, an AI-visibility vendor, reported in July 2026 that its own signup answers credited Claude with 18% of new MRR while GA4 showed about 0.1% (one company, the vendor's own data). It's also the channel click analytics sees least. If it shares a row with Google you can't tell whether your AI visibility work is paying off.

Why founder posts aren't "social"

"Social" mixes your ads, your brand account and your founder's personal posts. Those have very different costs. Splitting out the people, and naming them, is what lets a team say "Ioana's posts on X brought in more MRR than our LinkedIn ads".

Why "Other" is useful

Forcing every vague answer into a real channel inflates whichever channel the classifier guesses. A clean "Other" row, shown with its size, keeps the rest of the report honest.
